Activities at ragamuffins
We've got some really exciting things going on in the days at ragamuffins - here's a page we made all about them.
Enjoy-a-ball
Enjoy-a-ball sessions are held on a Tuesday morning. There is no extra cost above the entrance fee to ragamuffins; we cater for the younger end of the age range, so it serves as a gentle introduction to sport for younger children.
From the Enjoy-a-ball site: "Enjoy-a-Ball is a sports coaching programme for girls and boys aged between three and nine. All lessons are taught in a caring, positive, fun-filled environment and there are never more than 10 children in a class. Our objective is to make children's first experiences in a sports coaching environment happy and memorable."
Kindermusic
Monday afternoon is full of music and fun as Kindermusik comes to ragamuffins. Classes are from newborn upwards. In a Kindermusik class, educators lead a group of parents and their children through joyful activities, using music and movement. Parents learn more about their child's unique developmental process, and the shared learning experience creates a unique bond as the child associates learning with fun, musical play. To find out more, contact Lisa Jones on 01352 710630 / 07857771010 or email lisa@kindermusikwithlisa.co.uk.
Jo Jingles
Wednesdays at 10:30AM
Remember how you loved singing and dancing when you were young? Remember how your parents would say "Rodney, pleeeeeeeaaaassssee would you be quiet and sit still for 5 seconds?" (okay, they might not have said Rodney. Unless your name is Rodney). Well, Jo Jingles is a great excuse for your children to sing, dance and generally make a lot of noise and move around to music.
You can find out more at the Jo Jingles Website. Here's a brief extract: "Jo Jingles provides fun music, singing and movement classes for babies and young children. With the help of our Jo Jingles doll, trained and experienced presenters run the UK's most popular music and movement experience." Sounds good to us!
French Club
Every saturday from 10AM (see below for times), the children can come along and learn some french that's appropriate to their age range, and you can relax with a coffee (or a tea). Then they can play on the huge frame and you can sit back and wonder where they get their energy from. What a bonne idée, as they say in France*. It costs £6 for each child for a 45 minute lesson (includes unlimited time on the play frame).
Places are limited to 8 children per class so advance booking is required - you can book for as many or as few lessons as you like, but we're told that it's recommended that you book for half a term to give the children a chance. Email us at bonjour@ragamuffins.co.uk if you'd like more information.
Les petits renards
Ages 4 - 6, 10AM. It's well known that it's easier to learn other languages when you're young - get your children learning as early as you can and one day they'll thank you for it (probably the day they have to do their French exam).
Les loups
Ages 6 - 8, 11AM. When you're this age, how cool is it to be able to talk to your friends in a foreign language?
Les ours
Ages 8 - 10, 12PM. The oldest age range, but still a good time to be learning. Once they're done, they can come and order your coffee in french (although we probably won't have a clue what they're asking for).
Eat up!
We used to go to play areas quite a lot before we built our own. We found that they nearly always sell chips, or junk food, or something that we'd really prefer our children not to eat. So when we built our own play area and were deciding on the menu, we were very definite about what was going on it - no junk food, just good healthy fare that's good value for money and tastes great.
New - Hot Soup!
For those who like something that's a bit more warming than sandwiches, we now sell hot soup which is made completely from organic ingredients in the Lake District. It comes with a bread roll - come along and try some soon before the staff eat it all.
Sandwiches and Snacks
We make our sandwiches to order (although we sometimes keep some in the chiller just so that we don't have to make them all at once).
We sell vegetable crisps too, and the very lovely organic chocolate from Montezuma's.
We also make our own paninis and melts, with a variety of yummy recipes.
new***new***new
We've bought ourselves some posh new stuff for the kitchen and worked out what buttons to press and we now serve baked potatoes with lots of different fillings (including baked beans).
Cakes
Grown men have been known to burst into tears when they try our cakes, so utterly delicious are they. From Caramel Shortbread to Carrot Cake, Chocolate Muffins to Cookies, we've got the lot (at least until they've all been eaten).
We also know that some of you have to be a bit more careful about what you eat than the rest of us, so we've starting stocking some lovely gluten free cakes from honeybuns. We also cater for a large variety of other dietary requirements - if there's something you can't eat, there's a good chance we can cater for you. Call us on 0845 0066220 or email us if you want to know more.
Cold drinks
We sell delicious frappes, milkshakes and choctails made with Montezuma's award winning chocolate.
Coffee
We sell coffee ground to our own exacting standards by the nice people at Has Bean. We've now started selling it as beans so that you can enjoy it at home.
Tea
Of course, not everybody likes coffee, so we do some really nice tea as well. From Earl Grey to weird stuff with fruit in, you'll find we've got a beverage to please everyone.
Smoothies
We stock the rather scrummy smoothies made by innocent. These are made of pure fruit and absolutely nothing else, which must be good. We also have some nice organic juice for children, or you can buy one of our big jugs of juice to share.
We're open at these times - please drop in and see us:
