Theatres, Cinemas and Arts in Cheshire
For residents and the occasional visitor there are plenty theatres, cinemas and arts in Cheshire. The largest theatres are the Gateway in Chester, and the Edwardian Lyceum in Crewe. The Lyceum Theatre is home to the English Touring Theatre, one of the UK's leading middle scale theatre companies. Others theatres in the area include The Harlequin Theatre, Northwich, the Nantwich Players Theatre, The Daneside Theatre, Congleton and the Knutsford Little Theatre. And performances are also held in venues such as the Civic Centres in Ellesmere Port, Nantwich and Winsford, the leisure centre in Macclesfield or the Memorial Hall in Northwich.
For something a little less high brow, there are big name cinemas in all of Cheshire’s main towns. The Studio Cinema in Knutsford screens a good mix of blockbusters and lesser-known films and Cheshire Oaks is home to a 16 screen Warner Village.
If you fancy a change, theatres, cinemas and arts in Cheshire may have something a little different on offer, look out for professional performances by the Cheshire Dance Company in venues like the Lyceum. You never know, with regular dance courses on offer, even you might be inspired to get into the groove.
Supporting theatres, cinemas and arts in Cheshire are initiatives like Cheshire’s Rural Touring Network and Action Transport Theatre Company promote community theatre performances and participation in and around villages and towns. Whilst, if you fancy yourself as a star of the stage, societies like the Cheshire Theatre Guild and Macclesfield Amateur Dramatics Society always welcome members.
