Pubs and Clubs

As with most things pubs and clubs in Cheshire are a happy mix of the traditional and the ultra-modern and trendy. Obviously there are a good range of chain bars and pubs in all the major areas and some of Cheshire’s more exclusive suburbs, such as Wilmslow, are even emerging as strong rivals for their neighbouring cities.

Aside from the popular pubs and clubs in Cheshire, there are also loads of older, more traditional pubs. The Falcon dates back to the thirteenth century making it one of the oldest buildings in Chester. Throughout the Cheshire there are plenty of quaint little inns dotting the countryside. The Line Tavern, a converted railway station, makes for an interesting drinking venue. The dining room area is sited on the platform itself.

There is a good selection of pubs and clubs in Cheshire as well as being hme to several wine bars and cool café bars. Pedlars Wine Bar in Holmes Chapel offers a wide selection of drinks as well as an à la carte menu, whilst Fat Cats in Chester provides a laid back environment for the odd one or two. There are also your essential converted warehouse bars, like Telford’s Warehouse or the Old Harkers Arms on the banks of the Chester Canal.

For a bit of dance fever, pubs and clubs in Cheshire cover a variety of music genres and scenes. In Chester there’s Rosies and Brannigans, in Nantwich try Gregory’s, and there are many chain bars which open late. Around the county there are plenty of house and dance clubs – Club Heaven and Hell and Pure Café Bar in Stockport to name a couple. Venues such as Churchills in Warrington, Love Street in Chester and Cuban Knights in Macclesfield host regular rock, indie and alternative nights, and there’s even the occasional hip hop and drum and base nights at places like City Bar in Chester. Sophisticated after hours bars like The Braz in Alderley Edge meanwhile cater for the more discerning clubber.
