In Cheshire there are activities galore; equestrian sports, cycling, motor racing, water sports and so much more. If participating in activities in Cheshire are too energetic for you and you would just like to sit back and watch there are the prestigious races, home grown football, rugby and cricket talent.

The opportunities to take part in activities in Cheshire are varied, with facilities on offer for rock climbing to windsurfing as well as a range of indoor health centres, gyms and leisure facilities. The River Dee provides a perfect location for a variety of water sports including angling and canoeing. The North of England Head of the River Race is held here each year and there are several long established rowing clubs along its banks.



There are activities in Cheshire that go as far as learning the finer points of polo or show-jumping and there are plenty of riding schools across the county to help you if you actually want to have a go. The Chester Race Course, the oldest racing venue in the county, have regular Derby Trails, so don't forget your best hat!

There are activities in Cheshire which caters for those who prefer more down to earth sporting pastimes, football and rugby, with teams like Crewe Alexandra, Macclesfield Town and Chester City inspiring a good local following. There are also a number of cricket teams, Chester Rugby club and even an up and coming basketball team, the Chester Jets. In Tarporley, another sort-after spectator sport is motor racing at one of Britain’s top motor racing circuits, Oulton Park.
